DiversiTech were approached by F.P. Hurley & Sons Limited in Bridgend to supply support solutions for various air-handling units at an existing private hospital in Newport, South Wales. In addition to this and due to the densely populated roof areas, we were also invited to deliver safe access solutions, to provide clear maintenance access routes over and around existing services.
Hurley’s, the mechanical services contractor on the project, had several large air handling units that required supporting, each weighing circa 3750kg.
Utilising our Flexi-Heavy Duty Modular range of supports, we designed and calculated individual frameworks for each item of plant, ensuring the correct load management through our solutions back down to the roof finish was achieved. DiversiTech met the contractor on-site on several occasions to assist them with the assembly of frameworks and to ensure a trouble-free installation. We also prepared ahead of the installation AutoCAD drawings depicting the correct support of each unit, as well as pressure and roof loading calculations.
DiversiTech also carried out several intricate site surveys to enable us to prepare detailed working drawings of all the access requirements. These access solutions were designed in accordance to current British Standards and supplied in kit form for installation up on the roof after the plant was in-situ.
The flexible nature of our systems combined with even load distribution through our non-penetrative feet, resulted in the removal of risk of potential leaks and thermal cold bridging, which can occur with traditional supports. The lightweight and portable nature of our products made installing our system very simple and fast on the day.
